BMW i3 vs Tesla

BMW is just one of many carmakers, to enter the electric car market in the recent years. Although it managed to establish itself on the market quite quickly, the truth remains that Tesla is the current market leader. Being the most popular; however, doesn’t necessarily mean you’re the best.

Today, we are going to compare the BMW i3 to the vehicles that Tesla currently has on offer. Everything from performance to appearance and power will be taken into consideration, to determine whether BMW can compare to its word-renowned rival.

Let’s start with the i3. Launched in 2013, the five-door urban electric car is quite different to BMW cars from the past. Although it features a distinct similarity to the brand’s familiar aesthetic, it differs greatly and stands out on its own. Perhaps, not the most visually-pleasing of cars, it’s not ugly either. It’s not too big, which makes it perfect for city travel. Power-wise, the i3 is pretty much on the same level as the likes of Nisan Leaf; in fact, many have criticized it for virtually being a fancy version of the Leaf, which offers similar things. It’s is quite luxurious, as expected considering it was built by BMW; however, luxury doesn’t always hide other flaws.

Tesla, which is arguably the single biggest electric vehicle provider in the world, is pretty much in a different league to BMW. Its cars are sleek and elegant, without going overboard with the luxury aspects, opting to focus on fantastic performance instead. The brand offers larger batter backs and a much better range, compared to other EV’s currently on the market.

So, which is better – BMW i3 or Tesla?

It entirely depends on what you are after. If you’d rather go with luxury than performance, than the i3 could be the vehicle for you. If, on the other hand, you’re more interested in purchasing a vehicle that offers a great range and a comfortable and hassle-free driving experience, then you should probably go with Tesla. Either way, both brands are great – they just offer different things.
